DMNG | CHAPTER I. SEA OF JAPAN AND SEA OF OKHOTSK SHELVES

CHAPTER I. SEA OF JAPAN AND SEA OF OKHOTSK SHELVES

Volume 2. North Okhotsk shelf (in 3 books with enclosures)

Book 2. Magadan area

The work contains the results of G&G surveys carried out by DMNG JSC in late XX – early XXI century and the results of surveys carried out in cooperation with TGS and PGS. High quality and informational content of seismic sections allowed getting of new images of Magadan basin geological structure.

Total scope of interpreted seismic material was over 30000 line km.

There are acoustic basement and sedimentary cover divided by regional uncon-formities into four structurally stratigraphical complexes.

Analysis of spread of sedimentary complexes thicknesses and reconstruction of paleographical deposit situations allowed determination of objective laws of distribution of oil source formations, foreseeing the prevailing type of organic matter in saturation zones, spread of natural reservoirs in the section, types or reservoirs and impermeable layers and their percent rate.

Oil systems were pointed out and their evolution phases within Cenozoic period were determined. All round analysis of G&G information allowed pointing out of oil and gas prospective complexes and HC traps of various genetic types: anticline, stratigraphical, tectonically screened and combined in basin's sedimentary cover. Main perspectives of HC pools discovery there concerned to the deposits of terrigenous Paleocene – Lower Oligocene complex.
