CHAPTER III. EAST ARCTIC SHELF

Book 1. East Siberian and Chukchi seas

This Geological Report discusses Russian segment of East-Arctic shelf (Chukchi and East-Siberian seas), with three significant sedimentary basins: North-Chukchi, Longsko-Chukotsky and Novosibirsky. The report aims to construct a model of geologic structure of the region and to estimate the hydrocarbon potential by analyzing the structure and evolution of petroleum systems and petroleum plays. The assessment is based on the complex interpretation of seismic, gravimetrical and magnetometric data, implementation of facies analysis and geodynamic remodeling for creating a model of geologic structure and evolution of the basins, discovery of structural particularities and properties of the key elements of petroleum systems. The report is based on the data acquired during many years of integrated offshore geophysical surveys (CDP reflection seismic, 60-106*, magnetic and gravity surveys) carried out by DMNG in 1990-1991 and 2010-2011. The report also uses other available seismic, gravimetric and magnetometric data, as well as the whole volume of geological information on basin margins.
